Protect Your Investment With A Truck Alarm System

If you’ve ever had your truck stolen, you won’t think twice about investing in a truck alarm system.

My Experience

My truck was stolen once, when it was parked right in front of my house. I felt like an idiot when I walked out to the curb in the morning, keys in hand, and found nothing but thin air where I had parked my truck the night before. I wished I had had a truck alarm system, but it was too late by then.

I reported my stolen truck to the police and contacted my insurance agent. I dreaded to think about how much it was going to cost me for not having had a truck alarm system. Higher insurance premiums, paying the deductible, figuring out what all was in my truck and replacing all those items, shopping for a new truck – these are the big and little hassles of having your truck stolen. Believe me, all that day I wished I had purchased a truck alarm system for my truck that would have alerted me at the first sign of intrusion.

The Call

To my surprise, the phone rang in the middle of the night that night. It was a police officer. My truck had been found, abandoned on the side of a road, and I had 60 minutes to pick it up before it would be towed to an impound yard.

It was two o’clock in the morning and pouring down rain, but I got a friend to take me to the roadside where the truck had been abandoned – about three miles from my house. I got into the truck and saw wires hanging from the dash where the thieves had hot-wired the engine.

I tried to start the engine with my key, but nothing happened. Thinking that the truck thief had run my battery out, I opened the hood and shone a flashlight onto the battery, except that here was no battery! It had been stolen.

Happy Ending

I climbed into my useless truck, and my friend used his truck to push me home. While I was angry about the theft, I was thrilled to get my truck back.

As soon as I replaced my battery, I drove to the nearest auto specialty store and purchased a LoJack truck alarm system. I chose Lojack because of the way it interacts with law enforcement. Once I report my truck stolen, law enforcement sends a signal that activates LoJack, and LoJack sends back a signal. Law enforcement can track the stolen vehicle and recover it. LoJack boasts a 90% recovery rate for stolen cars, and that is good enough for me.
